SouthEastern Illinois Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SEIEC) is a member-owned, not-for-profit, electric distribution Cooperative headquartered in Carrier Mills, Illinois.  SEIEC provides service to 10 counties in southeastern Illinois serving over 24,000 accounts. 

Position

SEIEC has an immediate opening for a Marketing and Communications Manager.  The Marketing and Communications Manager reports directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer and is a key member of the Senior Management Team.  The position is responsible for planning, developing and implementing the marketing and communication programs to promote the Cooperative’s programs, products and services to enhance the level of member-service and member-satisfaction. This position is responsible for enhancing the Cooperative’s excellent reputation thru appropriate member communications, public relations and community outreach initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general content for the performance of this position. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of essential duties, responsibilities, and requirements. All duties and actions taken will be at the direction and supervision of the President/CEO.

  • Manage, develop and coordinate the editorial design, direction, production and distribution for all communication channels including webpage design, social media, Illinois Country Living magazine, marketing inserts, billing statement images and messages, communications and marketing software, local and regional advertising and press releases, storm restoration plans, etc.
  • Market, promote and coordinate all of the Cooperative’s programs, products and services including reliability, rates, incentive rates, billing services, vegetation management, power supply, demand response programs and energy efficiency programs.
  • Manage and coordinate community programs and outreach opportunities including IEC scholarships, classroom grants, youth tours, public and first responder safety training/presentations.
  • Conduct general market research and coordinate member surveys to be well-informed of trends and marketing movements. Educate employees and Board on findings and take appropriate action to enhance member satisfaction.
  • Continually assess and address service issues to ensure a high level of member service and satisfaction and to promote a favorable business relationship with the membership and key accounts.
  • Coordinate with other department managers to provide timely and effective member communications regarding operations activities, outage restoration events, pole testing, vegetation management, etc.
  • Serves as a point of contact for public and media inquiries.
  • Attends legislative events and promote Cooperative legislative advocacy.
  • Attends and is involved with local Chamber of Commerce and other business networking groups/activities
  • Effectively fulfills the roles expected of a member of the Cooperative’s management team including strategic planning, project management, budgeting, internal and external communications, leadership and exceptional member service.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

·         This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, business, public relations, communications or a related discipline
  • Minimum of five years professional experience preferred
  • Professional experience in the utility industry is a plus
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills including public speaking and presentation skills
  • Demonstrates high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer and software skills including Microsoft Office products and graphic design
  • Demonstrates ability to become proficient in the Cooperative’s computer systems and software
  • Knowledge and experience in social media platforms, content creation and website management
  • Ability to maintain positive and productive working relationships with employees, members and the public
  • Demonstrates the ability to work with honesty and integrity to uphold the Cooperative’s values

SALARY:

  • Salary Range $104,000 – $120,000 (Commensurate on Qualifications and Experience)

Engineering Technician

POSITION

SouthEastern Illinois Electric Cooperative (SEIEC), located at 100 Cooperative Way, Carrier Mills, IL, is seeking qualified candidates to fill an Engineering Technician position.  The Engineering Technicians responsibilities include, but are not limited to, designing and staking of electric lines, procuring right of way, load calculations for new and existing services and communicating and advising members on matters pertaining to new and existing electrical service.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Minimum qualifications are Associates in Engineering Science, Electric Engineering Technology or equivalent, Bachelors in Electrical or Civil Engineering is preferred
  • Professional experience in the utility industry is a plus
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Experience and knowledge in ESRI software and AutoCAD desired
  • Ability to plan project schedules with deadlines and ability to apply critical thinking
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

SALARY:

Hourly Wage Range -$25.31-$50.99 per hour (Wage will be Commensurate on Qualifications and Experience)
